Updates 0.1.78 and 0.1.82 Add Speech Tools and Office Fixes
The October 18 official update post, A Ton of Random Improvements, bundles two version ranges: 0.1.78 changes since 0.1.74 and 0.1.82 changes since 0.1.81. The notes are extensive, so this page groups the gameplay-relevant changes by system.
Speech Recognition And Microphones
Update 0.1.78 adds a dedicated Speech settings tab for call language, speech recognition, Qwen3 TTS, automatic microphone leveling, and caller filler words. Optional Deepgram online recognition uses your own Deepgram account and API key; audio goes directly to Deepgram, usage is charged there, and the key stays saved on your computer.
Moonshine expands from English to six languages: English, Arabic, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Spanish. Language packs are bundled with the game. Built-in recognition remains available.
Update 0.1.82 improves automatic provider selection on PCs without AVX2 or with known speech-compatibility hardware. If Whisper fails to load or recognize speech, supported languages can switch to Moonshine for the session. Whisper startup and recognition receive 15-second limits and clearer timeout messages, so Moonshine or Deepgram no longer waits behind a stuck Whisper request.
Microphone capture continues without automatic gain control if its audio component cannot load. A persistent warning appears when a selected Deepgram key is missing or rejected, and the recognition selector is easier to spot when the Deepgram suggestion appears.
Caller Voices, Qwen3, And Editing
Update 0.1.78 fixes Qwen3 TTS rejecting compatible PCs whose usable memory was slightly below the advertised 16 GB RAM or 8 GB graphics-memory threshold. It also gives Qwen3 up to 20 seconds to start before using the other voice system for that session without changing the saved preference.
Update 0.1.82 makes Qwen3 controls and download prompts respect hardware compatibility. Unsupported or failed setup no longer blocks hosting or joining behind its warning. Local voice loading improves when the Windows installation path contains non-English characters.
Character Creator voice imports improve for supported extended WAV files and valid MP3 recordings with extra audio padding. Mirror drawing and erasing add a draggable mirror line, and mirror settings save with the draft.
Privacy, Agreements, And Family Friendly Mode
Update 0.1.78 adds a first-launch EULA and privacy notice covering online AI calls, local recordings, multiplayer sharing, and browser privacy. Acceptance is saved, and the terms can be reopened from the main menu. Language selection and browser privacy controls appear on the agreement screen, with EULA and Privacy Policy links in settings.
A persistent warning appears when a host's personal OpenRouter API key is missing or rejected, with options to replace it or switch to Official Backend. Steam ownership checks improve after temporary sign-in failures, and a visible and audible warning appears when Steam confirms the signed-in account does not own the game.
Update 0.1.82 strengthens Family Friendly mode for caller openings and ongoing conversations, including changes made during a call. Boss-review narration follows the host's setting. The mode blocks the in-game browser and replaces certain PrivateMail and AnyViewer caller photos with a placeholder; open photos refresh when the setting changes.
Scenarios, Interface, And Office Systems
Objective recognition improves for Romance, Police Impersonation, Investment, Bitcoin, Meme Coin, Lottery Prize, and Utility Billing. Clear agreement to an already-proposed plan or amount can now count where appropriate.
Password Recovery returns to the app store and scam selection in 0.1.78, with instructions to use AnyViewer to obtain the required information. A Disable Call Saving option keeps boss-review temporary recordings while preventing new recordings from becoming permanent video clips.
Typed phone messages survive interface refreshes. Phone and scam-entry fields preserve focus, cursor position, and text selection where possible. Arabic and Persian text editing improves through a cursor-direction workaround, and the in-game browser resizes more reliably.
Malwarebits shows a clear Remove virus action for instant-cleanup editions and confirms successful removal. Fire-extinguisher spray coverage widens, the quota board refreshes less often while preserving scroll and player data, and local service or speech warnings remain visible above the computer interface.
Multiplayer, Review Playback, And Reliability
Review playback is more resilient: boss-review video recovery improves through Steam, cleanup improves when replacing or stopping videos, and recording cleanup prevents a stalled process from freezing scene changes or leaving a game. Holding the review-skip door across a day transition no longer clocks you out of the next shift.
In lobbies, eligible players gain an Add Steam friend button. Prestige counts appear above names and update for other players. The HUD adds an I'm stuck hint and a Knockdown Protection reminder. Another player disconnecting no longer clears your local interaction and shortcut controls.
Finally, bug-report and feedback forms receive more useful guidance and better diagnostics for failed AI connections. AI service reliability improves, usage checks are recalibrated to reduce false flags during normal play, and translations cover the new controls, warnings, agreement, privacy, speech, and Family Friendly changes.
