Character Creator Guide
Published · Updated
This is a draft reference for the Character Creator in Scam With Your Friends. It records only the entry points and features named in official update information or a specific community guide. It intentionally does not invent menu paths beyond those reports, file fields, save folders, audio specifications, or upload rules.
Start a new caller
Community documentation and Hotfix 2 information agree that Character Creator opens directly into caller creation after Hotfix 2. That removes an older intermediate navigation step from the expected flow. If you are starting a new custom caller, opening Character Creator is the correct first step in the current interface.
The available sources do not provide a complete walkthrough of every field or validation rule. A practical approach is to open the creator, read the labels and constraints shown by the current build, and save only after you can see the resulting caller in the game. Do not assume a guide written before Hotfix 2 is describing the same screen.
Edit an existing caller
To change a caller that already exists, use Daily Callers. Hotfix 2 identifies Daily Callers as the place for editing existing callers, and the separate Localize Voice buttons were removed. If an older tutorial sends you back to Character Creator to find those buttons, it is describing an outdated interface rather than a missing feature in your installation.
Update 0.1.73 also mentions improvements to multiplayer Daily Callers changes. That is useful in co-op: if several players adjust callers or the daily queue, the update specifically addressed synchronization-related problems. It does not establish a new permission system or a documented conflict-resolution workflow.
Draw with mirror mode
Official update information adds mirror drawing and erasing to Character Creator. The feature includes a draggable mirror line, and your mirror settings are saved with the creator draft. This gives you a repeatable way to keep details symmetrical without recreating both sides manually.
The available information does not document whether every drawing tool has a mirror equivalent or how mirror mode interacts with all layers. Treat those behavior questions as build-specific until an official note or the current interface confirms them.
What is not documented here
Several common creator questions do not have reliable public answers in the material used for this draft:
- A complete JSON personality field list.
- Required versus optional fields and validation messages.
- The game's save directory or file naming rules.
- Complete WAV and MP3 technical requirements.
- A step-by-step Workshop upload sequence.
Because Character Creator is part of an Early Access game, publishing invented values would create bad advice quickly. Check the in-game controls and official update notes first. If the current creator exposes an export control, use its output as your reference for structure rather than editing a guessed file blindly.
Before changing files
The game supports JSON personalities and WAV or MP3 voice recordings, but support does not mean that arbitrary files will load. Keep an unchanged copy of any working file before experimenting. Change one thing at a time so a failure is easy to identify. If a voice import fails after a crash-prone older build, remember that 0.1.73 specifically fixed Windows WAV and MP3 import crashes in Character Creator.
For community content, Steam Workshop is the documented distribution route. This draft does not link or endorse specific workshop packages because no particular package has been verified here. Always review a third-party caller package and its permissions before adding it to your game.
